PENNY STROUD - Professional Biographyis a founder of Cattaneo & Stroud, Inc. Her areas of expertise comprise strategic business planning, modeling of managed care impact on health systems, program feasibility analysis, meeting facilitation, facilities planning, and market research for hospitals, health systems, medical groups, and long-term care providers. Penny has been consulting for health care providers since 1978. In the health system area, Penny has developed detailed business plans for hospital programs that analyze financial and market performance and define strategies for future performance or size adjustments. Specific skills include market research, bed and service requirements, reimbursement analysis and understanding the financial and staffing operations of hospitals and health services. Penny has developed extensive models to analyze the impact of managed care on hospitals and physicians. Program expertise includes hospital specialty services, complementary and alternative medicine, skilled nursing and long-term care, and ambulatory surgery. Managed care medical group and health system projects have included development of capitation rates and negotiating strategies. She has worked with numerous anesthesia groups and the California Society of Anesthesiologists in managed care contracting and positioning issues. Financial and utilization impacts on health care providers and resource requirements are particular areas of expertise. Penny has also worked with medical supply and equipment vendors, and ancillary service providers in managed care strategic planning. Penny received her Master's Degree in Health Administration and Planning from Johns Hopkins University and her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Stanford University.
