GRANT CATTANEO - Professional Biography

one of the founders of Cattaneo & Stroud, Inc., has been active in the health care field for over 30 years. His experience includes development of physician managed care organizations, hospital association work, merger and acquisition analyses, marketing of provider contracting organizations, operational assessment of physician groups involved with managed care contracts, and strategic business planning for hospitals and physician groups.

Prior to becoming a consultant and principal of C&S, Grant worked for the Hill-Burton planning agency, American Hospital Association, California Healthcare Association, Hospital Council of Northern California and UniHealth.

Grant's most recent work has been in managed care strategy and operational issues of Independent Practice Associations, Management Services Organizations and group practices. Specific activities have included: evaluation of PPO and HMO managed care contracts for physician and hospital groups, developing operational budgets, physician compensation plans, assessing the financial condition of the organizations, claims/payment transactional review, and assisting in IPA and MSO start-ups.

As an adjunct to Grant's operational consulting, he maintains on behalf of C&S, extensive databases on HMO enrollment and medical groups involving managed care in California.

Grant received his Master's Degree in Hospital Administration from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a member of the Society of Professionals in Healthcare, the California Association of Hospitals and Health Systems, and various University of California alumni groups.
